On Friday 1st May Year 3 enjoyed a trip to Burghley House. The children enjoyed exploring the beautiful gardens where they saw a variety of plants and many interesting sculptures. The education staff at Burghley house taught the children about different kings of trees, how the seasons effect plants as well as seed dispersal and pollination.

On Friday, Year 5 completed their DT unit around structures. Earlier in the week, they had looked at different types of joints to strengthen and stabilise structures. They then applied that knowledge today by cutting wood using saws to create a frame with gusset plates and then designing and building our own shelter for the characters in our story, Brightstorm. The children had to focus on how to make their shelter as stable and rigid as possible through using different joining techniques. We were really impressed with the resilience that they showed!

Children have really enjoyed our new lunchtime activities this week. The music has been very popular and there has been lots of dancing. What is your child's favourite lunchtime activity?
